oral english is so important, if yours is ok, you can work in shipyard as translator for foreign business.

qulity department is suitable for you, because shipyard's customers are mostly foreigners, thi s job is a good way to practise your english!

as what i've known in foreign shipyard, normally the marketing staff is with technical background or else how can you promote your products without knowing its specification.

for a newcomer tatolly without relative backgroud i think procurement dep. is a better choice

anyway, in my opinion, language is mainly for communication...
however, knowledge back ground is good for your improve margin...
so, if you want to stay in this field and catch your goals, try to improve your ship knowledge...
at that time, you will find that there is a lot of choice right there, such as owner superintend and supplier or agency for famous brand etc...

如果想一直待在船厂发展的话，那建议你明智点，不要再翻译的职位上逗留太久，你可以1：担任领导助理，2：到质检部，多跟着船东船检多学习，业务时间丰富自己的船舶专业知识。
